At Leesville Elementary School, the focus of the PTA is on the programs and services that benefit our children and teachers. These programs and activities would not be possible without the funding from the PTA. To find out more about our fundraisers, click here

We sponsor the following programs and activities throughout the year:

Cultural Arts Programs (year round)

Every year, the PTA sends parent representatives to a Cultural Arts Fair in late summer to review and choose enrichment opportunities for our students for the upcoming school year.  These performances will be scheduled for appropriate grade levels throughout the year.  Dates and times will be published on the PTA calendar as they are scheduled.

Ready to Roar (year round)

Our Ready to Roar program started out as a way to engage incoming Kindergarten families,
through the summer picnic for rising K students and families, and the Kindergarten story night, where rising K students can wear their pajamas to school and listen to stories read by the Kindergarten staff. This program is being expanded to support all incoming families into LES, no matter the grade, to help families acclimate to a new school. Contact Casey Slock for
more information.

Cubs Closet (year round)

The Cubs Closet houses new and gently used children’s clothing and shoes, for staff to
share with children in need at LES. Donations are always being taken. Contact Heather West for more information.

Pride Pack Program (year round)

This program provides bags of food for children in food insecure homes, mainly of families
that are experiencing financial hardships. A bag will be sent home each Friday filled with non-perishable food for the weekend, for children participating in this program. Monetary donations are always being accepted to help our LES families in this program. Contact Heather West for more information.

Parent Workshops (year round)

The PTA sponsors parent workshops each year to engage parents in topics that are relevant to parents/guardians of elementary age students.  Topics, as well as the dates and times, will be announced as they are determined each year.

Turn Technology Off Week (Fall) - November 14-18, 2016

Tech Turn Off Week is a week long program in which students can vow to keep all technology turned off (unless it's for homework). This will be held the same week as the Bookworm Pajama Party:

Bookworm Pajama Party (Fall) - November 17, 2016

The Bookworm Pajama Party is a family event in which LES staff members read stories to students. This takes place during Turn Technology Off Week.

Junior Achievement (Spring)

Junior Achievement (JA) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to inspire young people to succeed in a global economy.  JA helps arrange businesses and local community leaders to visit classrooms (of certain grades), to share workforce experience with students,
while teaching sound economic principles and reinforcing class curricula. More specific information will be communicated in the Spring.

Spirit Week (Fall) - November 14-18, 2016

Fun activities and events are planned every Fall to celebrate our school spirit.  More specific information will be communicated closer to the event.

Book Fair (Winter) - December 5-9, 2016

Each year, the PTA hosts a Book Fair in our Library to allow our families to shop for their favorite titles, and raise money for books.  Families can shop during specific times of the day, which will be communicated prior to the fair.

Field Day (Spring) - May 19, 2017

In the spring, the PTA sponsors a Field Day for the children at LES, to emphasize the importance of physical activity, exercise, and having fun!  Field Day activities range from a dunking booth, to tug of war, and in the past has included inflatable slides.  Look for more information in the Spring.

The PTA also sponsors the following Family Fun Events and Hospitality Events:

Family Picnic (Fall) - Held on September 16, 2016

To welcome families to another school year, a Family Picnic is held each Fall, and hosts a range of activities and fun including food trucks, face painters, bounce houses, and more.  Look for information each Fall on this fun event.

Staff Treats & Early Release Lunches (monthly)

Each month, the PTA will spoil our wonderful staff with various treats and early release lunches, provided in the lounge next to the workroom.

Carnival (Spring) - March, 2017 (date TBA)

Families will be able to enjoy a Spring Carnival in conjunction with the Silent Auction for the 2016-2017 school year. There will be carnival games, including face painting, penny toss, and many more.

Staff Appreciation Week (Spring) - May 1-5, 2017

In conjunction with National Staff Appreciation Week, LES also takes this opportunity to thank the wonderful faculty and staff we have, through tokens of appreciation and special food treats throughout Staff Appreciation Week. Each year, there will be a specific theme to help show how much we appreciate what the teachers and staff do for our children. More specific information will be provided in the Spring.

These programs are subject to change from year to year.  Contact the Programs Chair or Hospitality Chair for more information, or to become involved with any of the wonderful programs that are sponsored and supported by the PTA.
